You Belong to Me by Ann Rule

I love books by Ann Rule. The first I ever read was The Stranger Beside Me abut Ted Bundy and I’ve been hooked ever since.

You Belong to Me is the second in Rule’s series of Crime Files where there is a novel length-true crime case and then five or six shorter cases.

The title story You Belong To Me is about Florida State Trooper and murderer Tim Harris. Chronicling Harris’s marriage, career and “fatal fantasies behind his badge of authority”, readers also get to know the victims of Harris’s crime. One of the things I like most about Ann Rule books is that her detail about victims’ lives and loved ones is thorough.

The shorter case files are engaging but once you get through the main case, I find I dip in and out of the rest of the book. Ann Rule books have been a favourite of mine to take backpacking and such is her popularity I’ve read several titles that I found in communal youth hostel bookshelves all over the world!
